ART Centre at NRI Medical College and General Hospital
Anti-Retroviral Therapy Centre under Public Private Partnership
Model was inaugurated on Saturday, 23rd October 2010. The ART centre is setup with the collaboration of National AIDS Control Organization, New Delhi and AP State AIDS Control Society, Hyderabad.This is the first instance where an ART
centre was setup in a private medical college in Andhra Pradesh.The centre was
inaugurated by Dr.R.V.Chandravadan, IAS, Project Director, AP State AIDS Control Society, Hyderabad, in the presence of Dr.Narasaraju Mantena, Secretary, NRI Academy of Sciences, Dr.Sumathi Mukkamala, Director, NRIAS
and Dean, Dr.K.Anji Reddy, Principal, Dr.N.V.S.Chowdary, Medical Superintendent, Dr.K.Butchi Babu and other Faculty members of
NRI Medical College and General Hospital.
Dr.Chandravadan in his inaugural address and also in the Press
Meet said that NRI Medical College and General Hospital was chosen for
establishing ART Centre under PPP Model, because of its reputation and also due
to the best specialty services rendered by Doctors of NRIGH. Initially 500 - 1000
PLHAs living in and around Mangalagiri Rural, Mangalagiri Urban, Tadepalli and
Chinnakakani etc., will be transferred to ART Centre at NRI General Hospital,
Chinnakakani.
Dr.Anji Reddy, Dean of NRI Medical College and General Hospital
thanked APSACS & NACO for selecting NRI General Hospital for establishing ART
Centre, first of its kind among the private medical colleges in AP. He further said
this was possible because of the attitude towards HIV positive people by the
management of NRIAS which is non-discriminatory since beginning of the Medical College and General Hospital. He also complimented the staff of NRIMC and GH for taking care of HIV positive people who are coming to the NRI General Hospital for various services.
